Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle: Review & Giveaway!

  

The Original Brownie Brittle Company, based out of West Palm Beach, Florida, began in 1992 when founder Sheila G. Mains (Sheila G), decided to turn a fudge brownie family recipe into an innovative and delicious new treat. She had an affinity for those crispy edges that you find around the baking pans when you are making brownies in the oven; she sought out to create a brownie snack that embodied that crunchiness and flavor. Her new recipe, Brownie Brittle, is made with all-natural ingredients, and has gained a lot of attention. Brownie Brittle has been featured many times in the media, in places like: Fox News, The Hallmark Channel, Women’sHealth, E!, Shape, Wall Street Journal, Good Morning America, The Wendy Williams Show, US Weekly, TMZ, The Huffington Post, and more! With Brownie Brittle, there is no more fighting for that “corner piece”!

Brownie Brittle was named a “hot snack” by Weight Watchers, because it has so few calories per serving. With just a serving or two, it is really a pretty guilt-free dessert that does not skimp on flavor. You can also add Brownie Brittle to many recipes to create something unique and even more tasty — there are many ideas available on the Brownie Brittle website. Some ideas are Greek Yogurt Freezer Pops, Mudslide Shots, Brittled Popcorn, Banana Shakes, etc.

Brownie Brittle comes in four wonderful varieties, which I had the pleasure of being able to test for the purpose of this review. They include: Salted Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Toffee Crunch.

The Salted Caramel Brownie Brittle contains the following ingredients: sugar, enriched wheat flour (flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), cocoa, corn syrup solids, soybean oil, palm kernel oil, palm oil, egg white powder, corn starch, salt, caramel color, leavening (baking soda), dextrose, soy lecithin, citric acid, natural flavor, natural color, non-fat dried milk, whole milk powder, vanillin and annato extract. This product contains wheat, eggs, soy, and milk. There are four servings per container, and one serving contains 120 calories, 4g of fat, 0mg of cholesterol, 115mg of sodium, 21g of carbohydrates, and 1g of protein. There is 4% the daily value of iron.

This product contains wheat, eggs, soy, and milk. There are five servings per container, and one serving contains 120 calories, 4g of fat, 0mg of cholesterol, 95mg of sodium, 21g of carbohydrates, and 1g of protein.

What did I think about Brownie Brittle?

The first word that comes to mind is ADDICTING. It’s weird, because I am the type of person who typically goes for the most moist brownie in the center of the pan without any hard edges. I figured this would be a good snack, but I didn’t plan on devouring a whole bag! I actually had to physically take the first bag of Brownie Brittle and move it to another room, just so I wouldn’t finish it all in one sitting. It is like having all of the flavor of a yummy, home-cooked brownie in a thin, crispy slice. To me, it’s actually better than a brownie, because you can eat more pieces and enjoy the treat for longer, without having to worry about ingesting as many calories. I wouldn’t be able to eat ten whole brownies, but I could eat ten pieces of Brownie Brittle, and probably still be much healthier in the process!

I love that these are part of the Weight Watchers plan. Who would think that Brownie Brittle could get 3 Weight Watchers points? At 120 calories per ounce, you don’t have to feel guilty about eating a portion. This isn’t one of those “100 calorie” desserts that is either so minute it is mouse-sized, or is so disgusting that it isn’t even worthy of wasting 100 calories on. This is one of the best snacks that I have ever eaten. My family completely agrees — my boyfriend and I were fighting over the bags, and my mom said “YUMMY…I wanted more — I had to eat the crumbs out of the bag. It really tastes like you’re eating a whole brownie, and you don’t even have to take the time to make them. They really have that crunch factor!” (My mom is one of those outside, crunchy edge kind of people).

I DEFINITELY plan on buying Brownie Brittle in the future. It is a great little snack in place of heavier desserts, to keep my taste buds satisfied as I turn to a healthier diet. I will be at school for many hours of the day, so I can bring Brownie Brittle as something to snack on and keep me going. I am going to buy a few bags for our group activities, so I can introduce more people to this awesome snack. My favorite, hands down, was the Toffee Crunch. It had a great pop of flavor, and was really unique. My boyfriend really took to the Salted Caramel, and my mom’s favorite was the Mint Chocolate Chip — there is a variety for everyone! These flavors make Brownie Brittle even more interesting than your standard, box mix brownies.
