Ecco Bella is a company based out of West Orange, NJ, that specializes in manufacturing all-natural, cruelty-free cosmetics and beauty products. Ecco Bella believes in creating products that will not just enhance your beauty on the outside, but will give you beauty from the inside, out. They use ingredients such as vitamins, herbs, and minerals which are beneficial for your skin and hair, in more ways than one.
Ecco Bella’s FlowerColor Natural Liquid Foundation does more than just conceal blemishes and even out skin tone; it is an innovative foundation that also acts as a sunscreen and skin treatment. It has an SPF of 15, and can help prevent your skin from harmful UVA/UVB-ray damage during the summer and winter months. The unique formula of the FlowerColor Natural Liquid Foundation includes a host of vitamins, organic herbs, and antioxidants. Some of its skin treatment properties include providing moisture for dry skin (with the help of organic Aloe Vera and saccharide isomerate) and rejuvenating/healing skin (with the help of potent vitamins such as Vitamin E).
The FlowerColor Natural Liquid Foundation comes in seven different shades which span the color spectrum, giving a fair representation for most skin types. They include: Bisque, Ivory Porcelain, Light Beige, Natural, Linen, Tan, and Mocha, listed from light to dark. Ecco Bella does not offer foundation based on tone or warmth, so all shades are fairly close to neutral, not leaning more towards yellow or green. Instead of focusing on color correction, they focus on creating shades which will match/enhance your natural skin color. It “glides on sheer” with its Aloe/water-based formula, but is meant to provide great coverage. It has a weightless formula which will help to lock-in moisture, rather than drying out your pores and caking on. The FlowerColor Natural Liquid Foundation is a great, healthy alternative for anyone who wants to protect their skin while also evening it out.
In these pictures, I am wearing the “Natural” shade of Ecco Bella FlowerColor Natural Liquid Foundation. It was the darkest of the three shades that I received, and the one that most closely resembled my skin-tone. I am one of those people that tends to go a shade darker than the back of my hand usually, just because I am confident in my blending abilities and I like the look of a “natural” tan without having to use too much bronzer or blush. That being said, I probably would have chosen a shade darker for my “summer” skin, though I didn’t get too dark this summer. As winter rolls around, I get paler, so it is nice to have a variety of lighter shades of foundation to choose from. The Light Beige shade will probably be great for when I am at my palest, but I will probably be sharing the Bisque shade with one of my friends who has a lighter skin tone!
I initially thought the Ecco Bella FlowerColor Natural Liquid Foundation was small, but a little really goes a long way. I only needed a small squeeze to cover my entire face. It was really easy to apply, as it glided on and didn’t cake or dry too quickly. I found that if I shook the tube first, it was a little thicker. The FlowerColor Foundation did seem to be more sheer when applying, but dried to a light, more powdery-textured foundation. I liked the face that it did not feel like a mask, and allowed my skin to breathe. I love that it has natural ingredients, and that it also helps act as a sunscreen. It did feel like it helped moisturize my skin throughout the day with the added vitamins and herbs. I felt like the “Natural” shade gave my skin a, (fittingly), natural look. It blended around the angles of my face without leaving streaks, and it helped to even out my skin-tone so that I looked less like I just woke up, and more like I had a healthy glow. In the pictures, I am only wearing the foundation and lip-gloss..my hair isn’t even done. So that is literally a five-minute look, which is handy if I need to run out the door. While I felt like the foundation had coverage enough to soften my skin and make it appear more even, I did not feel like it covered the redness on my chin entirely, even though that didn’t come across in the photographs. I think this is a great foundation for people who want a natural, breathable look. I would recommend it to those who have acne and other conditions only for the healing properties, but I would throw extra concealer on if you are going to go this route, as I feel this is more of a medium coverage foundation than a full coverage. All-in-all, I think it is great for the price and for its 3-in-1 benefit.
