I was lucky enough to receive a Youphoria Yoga Mat for the purpose of this review, in exchange for sharing my opinions with you. I chose the green mat because it was a very unique color (I tend to go for things that stick out), and I figured that my boyfriend would be more apt to share it with me than a pink one. I have been wanting to get into yoga for a long time, but I was always lacking the right equipment; the mats at the gym are very flat (and dirty) and tend to slip out from under me; I’m not even sure you can actually call them “mats” as they aren’t much better than laying on the hard floor. Although my second year of medical school is not as stressful as the first, it still has its moments, and yoga can work as a great relaxation and exercise routine. I really have been enjoying my Youphoria Yoga Mat. I get a lot of compliments on the vibrant and unique green color — I have the prettiest and most comfortable mat at the gym! I have been experimenting by using my mat for home workouts as well as gym workouts, and find that it works great on a multitude of surfaces. I have had a lot of borrowed mats in the past that have slipped quite easily, and I find that this mat has a much better grip on the floor as well as my body. I always end up pushing it a little, but not nearly as much as the cheaper mats. I use a yoga towel along with my mat, so I haven’t had any issues with odor…the clean up is also really easy, but I would suggest hanging it outside to dry if you can. My favorite part about this mat is its comfort level; I really think that the memory foam helps me endure and enjoy more time exercising and practicing yoga. Being in weird study positions often, I find myself with the occasional back or leg issue, but the memory foam material always puts my body at ease. I really don’t have anything bad to say at all about this mat — I think it is really going to help me meet my goals of exercising more frequently and finding a new source of relaxation and energy.
