Purex Crystals Aromatherapy: Review

I recently received a bottle of the new Purex Aromatherapy Crystals, in scent “Energy”. I have shared the fact, in the past, that although I only live in a small apartment with my boyfriend, we manage to go through a ton of laundry (even during just one week!). It is important to me to purchase quality products for our high efficiency washer that are affordable for our school budgets and long-lasting. That being said, we love Purex products, which easily fit into both of these categories. We regularly use Purex pods or liquid laundry detergent, as well as a variety of Purex crystals. We were happy to give the new Aromatherapy Crystals by Purex a shot, but I already knew we would love them before I even poured them in the washer!

Purex Aromatherapy Crystals are a new edition to the Purex line, and are scented crystals that go right in with your laundry in the washing machine. They are scent boosters, for use with either scented or unscented laundry detergent, to make your laundry smell even fresher! These crystals give your laundry a scent that doesn’t just last for a few minutes, but until the next time you wash them. Aromatherapy crystals come in three different varieties: energy, well-being, and serenity. The Well-being scent smells like fresh blossoms and can help increase mood and happiness. The Serenity scent smells like water-lilies and induces a calm and peaceful mood. The Energy crystals have a revitalizing citrus scent that can help you work your way through a long day with more vitality. 

Purex Aromatherapy Crystals come in two different sizes: 18 oz and 24 oz. They are sold in most major retailers in the United States. Within the crystals are essential oils which have a dual purpose: to increase the freshness of your laundry while also creating a variety of moods through aromatherapy. The crystals are safe in regular and high efficiency washers and should be added (a cap full for a normal sized load) right in with the laundry before you turn the washer on. 

 

The Energy Purex Aromatherapy Crystals have a really bold and fresh scent of both citrus and floral tones. They are really easy to use, just like all other Purex Crystals. Although this scent may be powerful for some people who are sensitive, I happen to really enjoy it (I’m a big fan of citrus scented anything). I can attest to the fact that one cap full for our very large loads is enough, with the addition of detergent, to produce extra fresh smelling laundry. Since I hang the majority of my clothes up that could become damaged or shrunk in the dryer, it is really important to me to find a combination of laundry detergent and additives that can hold a scent really well, without getting the extra smell from the dryer sheets. I find that my clothes still smell like fresh oranges after a day or two of hanging up on a drying rack. These crystals are great, and the smell really is invigorating, so I’m sure that the other two scents are true to their aromatherapy “moods” as well!
